Greetings from Eddie Lawler, aka "Bard of Saltaire" now living in Scarborough. I write songs, musicals, poems and plays (see my news page). My work mixes fun with social comment, offering thought-provoking entertainment. In 2020 I'm launching a new play "Airey Tales" in September in W Yorks. This is my major effort for the year, and details will follow soon.
"Tracking The Brontës" arrived on the coast after many West Yorkshire performances. It's been well received in Scarborough, at Whitby, Hull, Kirby Misperton and Beverley U3As. See Reviews page. Also at Whitby Fine Arts Society, at the Anne Brontë 200th birthday celebrations in Scarborough at Guisborough U3A, at Scarborough Library, and for E.Yorks Family History Society. More performances booked for 2020
As in 2019 I'll be at Robin Hoods Bay Folkfest in June, and at Scalby Music Festival end of August, details on Current Dates page... Maybe I'll perform this song (click) dedicated to the bellringers of West Yorkshire
My Play "Making Light" which completed a six-venue tour in 2017, performed by Shipley Little Theatre is here on Video at Seven Arts Leeds, made by Zahoor Sakharkar of Haseen Multimedia © to whom megathanks. Takes a while to load. Then press play.
Listen to the recording (one hour in length) of my radio-play about Wolfgang Borchert: "Messenger Without Weapon" (wait for upload).
Some asked for Brontë Railrap, which is part of "Tracking The Brontës" (but it's not ALL like that!).
I've two collaborations:-In "Two Tykes on t' Loose" I add my songs to Rod Dimbleby's Yorkshire stories, see Current Dates and reviews page. My musical support for Steve Bottoms' "Salt's Waters" is also acclaimed. See "People" on Multi Story Water and other stuff re Bradford Beck.
