Saltairy Tales

Here is a short extract of one of the poems:

TALE OF THE MILL

This was a monster, man-made, yes

And elegant, but monster nonetheless

The brainchild of a bearded man of talent

Biggest thing in Airedale ever happened

Belched out smoke, and hissed so steamily

It drove all dragons to redundancy

Not needing words to prove its overwhelming power

Its presence felt by all it towered over

Thundered its will above the hands

That hooked the bales in at one end

And out the other rolled out daily miles of cloth

Until it stopped.
