Bells

Bells is based on the life of the Brontë Family …

Story - the Brontë sisters published under the (male) pseudonym of “Bell”. This musical is almost a non-stop ringing of bells.

Songs - there are 13 songs, ten scenes and nineteen distinct “items” including Branwell Brontë’s Song, My Irish Father, At my Peace and Silver Band Waltz.

Cast - the main characters are the three Brontë sisters, the brother Branwell and their father Patrick. There are four school teachers, an American tourist and a chorus of schoolchildren.

Duration - is circa two hours including interval.

Past Performances - Bells was premiered by staff and students at Brighouse High School in January 2001. A smaller group of local young people performed it again in September 2008 as part of Saltaire Festival
